MidAtlantic Business Advisors

Ronald F. "Ron" Rash, Founder/Senior Advisor

Ron Rash brings industry expertise and leadership to the helm of MidAtlantic Business Advisors. He spent more than ten highly successful years with two Fortune 500 companies before moving on to become an owner/operator and investor in numerous small and lower middle-market businesses. Ron holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech and a Finance for the Non-Financial Manager certificate from The Wharton Business School. In addition to the CBB (Certified Business Broker), Ron has held a Virginia Real Estate License, the CBI (Certified Business Intermediary) and the coveted designation of M&AMI (Mergers and Acquisitions Master Intermediary), a designation held by less than 100 brokers in the nation. The M&AMI designation from IBBA (International Business Broker Association) is their top designation. It requires satisfactory completion of extensive initial and continuing education and a minimum of three closed transactions exceeding $1 million in proceeds. Ron has since far exceeded these minimum requirements and no longer needs the endorsement of these optional membership organizations. Our past clients' endorsements speak louder. Ron is a past board member of the Virginia Better Business Bureau, the Center for Christian Studies at the University of Virginia, Young Life of Charlottesville, VA, Serge Global of Philadelphia, PA, and Recovery for the City of Virginia Beach, VA. He has also served for more than twenty-five years as a deacon and elder in two churches. Ron's background and values, combined with a commitment to continued education, provide a high level of trustworthy insight to the clients that MidAtlantic serves.

Securities Licensing

FINRA instituted regulations in November 2009 which required licensing of business brokers involved in securities transactions. FINRA's position was that to legitimately engage in business brokerage activities which include securities, a broker must be Securities Licensed and that any transaction which includes the sale of the stock of a corporation or any type of promissory note is considered a security transaction. FINRA stated that unlicensed brokers engaging in securities transactions could subject their clients to unnecessary risk including possible rescission of these transactions. Accordingly, we at MidAtlantic pursued and attained Securities Licenses. The SEC has since provided No-Action relief from these requirements for business brokers, so Mr. Rash's licenses are now inactive and unnecessary, but the knowledge he obtained earning them is still a benefit to MidAtlantic’s clients.
